The Big Fat Lie!

Those of you who have followed me for a while will know that I'm passionate about nutritional issues and health. When it comes to what we eat nothing gets me more fired up than the low fat/high carb and cholesterol debate.

For me  it's reassuring to see that there are medical experts out there now who are beginning to speak up about the big fat lie, heart disease and the flawed cholesterol theory.  If you're interested in this issue and particularly if you're a woman over 40 then this video link is well worth a few moments of your time.

Also, this link provides some interesting insights into the health effects of fats and carbohydrate and puts it all into context.

Both links give the historical and political background to the issues. In the video link one expert after another talks about  the big fat lie and describe how the cholesterol theory took off on the weakest of evidence.Once you understand what's led us up to this point, then it's clear to see how we've arrived at this parlace state of affairs.

For reasons that are more political than medical, and have more to do with marketing than science, these flawed theories about the role of fats, carbohydrates and cholesterol continues to influence medical practice to this day.  From what's being said it seems clear that  the medical experts,  who have perpetrated these theories, are never going to admit that they got it wrong. Also, let's be clear, there are some powerful vested interests at stake here and getting beyond the media hype is always going to be tricky.

Any older woman who is keen to maintain good health needs to be aware of what's going on here.

I hope you find this information  both empowering and useful.
